TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION

Unlocking building blocks for the chemical and rubber industry.

Recircle is a chemicals and materials company. Our proprietary enzymes turn end-of-life rubber into high-value molecules and materials that industry can build on.

OUR APPROACH

Turning a waste problem into a feedstock opportunity.

The chemical and rubber industries need new feedstocks: renewable, reliable and cost-competitive. Today, those are hard to find. At the same time, millions of tonnes of rubber reach the end of their life every year, in a material that was designed never to break down.

We see a feedstock where others see waste.

Inside every tyre are valuable molecules and materials: reactive polymer chains, carbon black, silica, oils and waxes. The challenge has always been getting them out without destroying them.

That’s where biology comes in. Enzymes are nature’s precision tools, each built to cut one specific type of bond and leave everything else untouched. We’ve engineered our own, to take rubber apart at the molecular level at low temperature.

What comes out are building blocks industry can use: oligomers for new chemistry, and recovered materials ready to go straight back into the rubber value chain.

Our ambition is simple: to give the chemical and rubber industries a new source of high-value building blocks, made from a material the world currently throws away.

OUR ENZYME

Clean cuts. Valuable molecules.

Rubber is made of long polymer chains, locked together by sulphur crosslinks during vulcanisation. Our enzymes work like precision scissors, making targeted cuts so the rubber breaks down in a controlled way.

Every cut is clean, giving well-defined molecules called oligomers. Industry can use them as they are, or turn them into new chemistry.
